Good afternoon Rockdale Ram Nation. On behalf of Ms. Walls, our phenomenal Librarian, Rockdale School will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair starting tomorrow, Monday, November 21 through Wednesday, November 30th. The book fair will be open on Monday, November 21 from 3:30-7:30 pm and Tuesday, November 22 from 8:30 am-12:30 pm during Fall Parent Teacher Conferences in the Rockdale Library. Students have or will be having a book preview to view the book options available for the book fair. Books may be purchased through the use of credit/debit card, check made payable to “Rockdale School,” and/or cash (need as close to total cost as possible due to extremely limited change). As a reminder, Scholastic certificate coupons won at the Rockdale Literacy Night may not be redeemed. Welcome to the BEST. WEEK. EVER as we get books into our Rockdale Rams’ hands. Good morning Rockdale Ram Nation. Yesterday, Friday, November 18th we hosted our annual 2nd Grade Living Museum at Rockdale School. It was well attended by not only 2nd Grade parents and families, but by various elementary classes. Our 2nd Graders worked hard researching, learning more about their famous and/or historical person, created a visual poster board, and rehearsed their speech prior and during the event. A special thank you to Mrs. Vallera and Miss Nordstrom for leading our 2nd Grades through this meaningful learning project. Our 2nd Graders transformed themselves into such famous, historical, and/or influential people in our society and/or around the world, i.e., John F. Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth, Michael Jackson, LeBron James, Taylor Swift, Selena Quintanilla, Lionel Messi, Ellen Ochoa, Ameila Earhart, Ronaldo, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, just to name a few. Great job to our 2nd Graders, Mrs. Vallera, and Miss Nordstrom on a successful 2nd Grade Living Museum!! Way to GO!! Buenos días Rockdale Ram Nation. Ayer, viernes 18 de noviembre, organizamos nuestro Museo anual de biografías de segundo grado en la Escuela Rockdale. Contó con una buena asistencia no solo de padres y familias de segundo grado, sino también de varias clases de primaria. Nuestros alumnos de segundo grado trabajaron arduamente investigando, aprendiendo más sobre su personaje famoso y/o histórico, crearon una cartulina visual y ensayaron su discurso antes y durante el evento. Un agradecimiento especial a la Sra. Vallera y la Srta. Nordstrom por guiar a nuestro segundo grado a través de este proyecto de aprendizaje significativo. Nuestros alumnos de segundo grado se transformaron en personas famosas, históricas y/o influyentes en nuestra sociedad y/o en todo el mundo, es decir, John F. Good morning Rockdale Ram Nation. Today, Saturday, November 19th, our JV Lady Rams Girls Basketball team took on Fairmont for the first round of Regionals, being held at Taft. Our Lady Rams played a hard fought game and they WON, 21 to 14!!! We will #flytheW flag and the light the Ram Victory light on Monday. Congratulations to Coach Richards and our JV Lady Rams for the WIN! The second round Regional Game will be played at noon today versus the host school, Taft. Good luck Lady Rams on round two! Good evening Rockdale Ram Nation! A special shoutout to Mr. Colarelli, Mr. Blair, and the volunteers from ExxonMobil who presented a science experience to our Middle School students today, Friday, November 18th at Rockdale School. Thanks to Mr. Olson, our MS Science teacher, for helping to organize this event and for letting ExxonMobil use his Science lab. Students in 6th-8th Grade worked in teams to construct a boat made out of two pieces of aluminum foil and straws. The final test and competition was to see how many pennies the team’s boats could hold. The winning team was in 6th Grade and their boat held 670 PENNIES!!! That was RAMtastic!!! We will be scheduling a K-8th Grade Secrets in Science for the Spring! Be on the lookout! Fun was had by all!! ¡Buenas noches, nación Rockdale Ram! Un saludo especial para el Sr. Colarelli, el Sr. Blair y los voluntarios de ExxonMobil que presentaron una experiencia científica a nuestros estudiantes de secundaria hoy en la Escuela Rockdale. Gracias al Sr. Olson, nuestro maestro de MS Science, por ayudar a organizar este evento y por permitir que ExxonMobil use su laboratorio de Ciencias. Los estudiantes de 6.° a 8.° grado trabajaron en equipos para construir un bote hecho con dos piezas de papel de aluminio y popotes. La prueba y competencia final era ver cuántos centavos podían contener los botes del equipo. ¡El equipo ganador estaba en sexto grado y su bote tenía 670 PENNIES! ¡¡¡Eso fue RAMtástico!!! ¡Estaremos programando un Secretos de Ciencias de K-8th Grade para la primavera! ¡Estar en la búsqueda! ¡¡Todos se divirtieron!!

Good evening Rockdale Ram Nation. Today, at Rockdale School, we celebrated, school-wide, OctoBOARD game day as we celebrated the 1st Quarter earning PRIDE tickets throughout the building for displaying our #RockdalePRIDE. Fun was had by all and I was able to capture a few pictures from various classrooms. Games ranged from memory to Battleship to Connect Four to Candyland to Monopoly to Headbanz. Cannot wait to see what the celebration day will be after the 2nd Quarter! Keep earning those PRIDE tickets Rams and make good choices inside and outside of the classroom!

In honor of this victory, I will turn on the Victory light after school tomorrow and we will #flytheW flag to celebrate. Great job to Coach Richards for her leadership. Our Varsity Lady Rams basketball team did their best, but did not come through with a W. They will look to “rebound” against Richland tomorrow afternoon for an away game. Great job Lady Rams!!
